Another transport from Earth arrives with a man named Bernard on board.  Lyar meets the journalist but is not very forthcoming with answers to his questions.  When he talks to Misaki, she denies having seen anything.  The cadets and Bernard go on another training missions to the Core but, once again, a Ghoul shows up.  Their ship is disabled and Lyar tells them to evacuate.  Luxandra and Suzanna are wounded in the attack but escape.  Misaki transforms again and holds the Ghoul at bay until it can be sent back.  Kotoko is decapitated and Bernard is also wounded.  He is able to jack into her memories however before they leave.
