Reiko loves books and her job as an editor is great.  Except when she's harassed by authors who think they can use her to get a publishing contract.  After Kantarou, Haruka and Youko witness a strange situation where the author that Reiko is working with collapses, they think that she may be possessed.  Wanting to know more about this, Kantarou uses his writing deadline as an excuse to show up and finish his manuscript at her office.  He discovers that Reiko spends time in the basement reading old books and that a book monster has befriended her and is looking out for her well-being.  Since the monster has no evil purposes, he leaves it alone.
