United States 7/18/1969
   Ted Kennedy Drove into a Pond on Chappaquiddick Island
Senator Edward “Ted” Kennedy of Massachusetts left a party on Chappaquiddick Island and soon after drove an Oldsmobile off a bridge and into a pond.  He escaped, but Mary Jo Kopechne died.  The fatal car accident was not reported to the police for 10 hours causing concern over the circumstances of the accident.

   First Manned Mission to the Moon
Apollo 11 from the United States was the first manned mission to land on the moon - and to date, no other country has done so.  This mission was crewed by Neil A Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin "Buzz" E Aldrin, Jr.  Neil Armstrong was the first man to step foot on the moon with the famous quote, "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
