Vash and the remaining people from the steamer are riding a bus through the desert.  Vash notices a man in the distance who joins them.  He is a preacher and his name is Nicholas D Wolfwood.  Later the bus is attacked by robotic creatures.  When one of the kids goes missing during their escape, Vash and Wolfwood go off to rescue her.
