Sarah Jane heads to Lavender Lawns, a retirement center, to investigate a haunting by a nun.  Meanwhile, Maria's mother comes to stay for a few days which causes her and her father some problems.  While at the center, Luke is given a talisman by a lady who is suffering from dementia.  After they return to Sarah Jane's house, Mr Smith recognizes the talisman as an alien artifact.  Sarah Jane and Maria return to the center to talk with the lady who gave it to Luke.  While the are gone, the nuns show up with Luke and Clyde still in the house.  The naive Luke gives away the fact that they have the talisman but the two escape.  Later, Sarah Jane, Maria, Luke and Clyde arrive back at the house where the nuns return with their charge, the Gorgon.  Things looks pretty bad for the group, especially when Maria's father shows up.
