Kino and Hermes arrive in a country where the prophets have determined that the end of the world is happening tomorrow.  Getting free supplies due to imminent doom, she leaves the next day after the end doesn't occur.  Later she arrives in a country where melancholy rules and discovers that a book was written from the sad poems of a man.  This is the book that was passed to the next country as its prophecy.
