The Inbit are running experiments in order to determine the most evolved form for survival on Earth.  Stig, Ray and Mint fall into a pit that leads to one of the underground test areas.  Mint is possessed by the Inbit leader who tells them that humankind will be replaced by the final outcome of their experiments.  It's all they can do to escape before the Inbit put an end to the experiment.
