Palza wins the Nobel Prize for his discovery of X-Rays in 1901 and the six children watch from hiding.  Palza is the older Conrad a describes his enlightnment after walking with a young white-haired girl one day.  In 2012, Helga is placed in detention and her orphanage in Chikao along with Chitto and made to write an apology essay.  The children are around trying to discover more information about the poaintings Serafine did.  They are attacked by some shadow creatures that pull them into a bazarre light world.  They defeat the creatures and get some memory crystals so that they can restore their memories.  They split in order to find Palza and Mel and to find Serafine.  Chitto helps Helga escape once again and take a train.  Some of the white-haired children board also.  Tohma has a dream and, when he awakes, runs off to find Helga.
