The Abh have scheduled war games in the Haider system near Martine.  One of the ships is fired upon by Martine and jinto finds out about it.  Since he is no longer in the military he cannot be told military secrets.  Later, he discovers that some of the defense cannons on Martine have been destroyed and contacts the planet.  Teel Clint is the Prime Minister and is happy to hear from Jinto and tells him that Lena is doing fine.  He denies him the right to land unless he seeks asylum on the planet and gives up his Abh nobility.  Jinto cannot do that and so they meet off planet where Teel and Lena have dinner with Jinto and Lafiel.  Before they eat, Jinto must sign an agreement where Marine will cede sovrenity but he must never come closer that 1 light second to the planet and cannot stay in the system for more than ten days at a time.  He's given one last chance to ask for asylum but he still refuses.  After the meal, the Clint's say a sad farewell and ask Lafiel to take care of Jinto.  She tells them "I will become his world, and I will make him my world."
