The Master makes his debut as he arrives on Earth.  He steals a Nestene energy sphere and reactivates it.  He then uses hypnosis over a plastics company where he starts producing plastic dolls and other things that can be taken over by the Consciousness.  The Doctor is warned of the Masters arrival by another Time Lord.  The Master uses Autons to distribute the daffodils to people as free promotional gifts.

The Master plans to bring the main Nestene Consciousness to Earth but the Doctor persuades him that the Consciousness will have no use of him once they arrive.  They team up to expell the Consciousness.
