The TARDIS materializes at a human colony that appears to be a vacation spot.  It has instead been taken under control by an alien race called the Macra.  They use the inhabitants to mine a toxic gas that is needed for Macra survival.  Ben is taken over by the Macra but he eventually fights it off.  The Doctor tells him how to destroy the gas pumping equipment and the Macra are killed.
