When the group arrives at the island, Jinai informs them that he was following them all along. Now he knows where Ifurita is, he goes to awaken her.  After fighting their way in, Nanami sees another Phantom Tribe member.  Makoto is blasted through a whole in the floor and arrives beside Ifurita, the same woman that sent him to El Hazard in the first place.  He awakens her but Jinai takes the staff and commands her to destroy the Makoto.  When Shayla-Shayla arrives, Ifurita copies her fire abilities and defeats her.  Just before the final blow, Makoto jumps in front and saves her.  When Ifurita turns on him, he graps the staff and somehow accesses Ifurita's memories.  Confused, Ifurita takes off and goes after the alliance.  Since she must obey the person who holds the staff, she goes and destroys a town near the the Great Holy River of God.
