Shinonome High School is besieged by reporters when a mysterious artifact is discovered in the basement.  Katsuhiko Jinnai takes credit for the discovery.  He is the student council president and is attempting to cover his inadequacies and finds out that Makoto may have something to do with his problems.  After school, Nanami Jinai, Katsuhiko's sister, shows up at Fujisawa sensei's office with dinner and tea for him.  After he eats it she charges him for it.  Makoto Mizuhara goes to the basement to check out the relic when a doorway opens to reveal a woman.  She tells him she's been waiting 10000 years to finally meet him but she's running out of power.  She proceeds to send him to El Hazard, an alternate world.  Makoto meets Fujisawa and they head out to find someone.  They find huge insects attacking a woman and Fujisawa fights them off, discovering in the process that he somehow has super human strength.  The woman they rescue is Princess Rune Venus and, when she realizes that Makoto looks just like her sister Fatora, she has a plan.  Since Fatora has gone missing, she wants Makoto to dress like her to fool Rashtaria's (the name of the land in which she lives) allies into thinking that everything is okay.  Jinai arrives somewhere where the big bugs (Bugrom) live and convinses their leader to let him help overtake El Hazard.  After a tough time impersonating the princess Makoto climbs into be when a young girl follows and starts kissing him.
