Mysterious things are happening in London just before the coronation of Queen Elizabeth.  The Doctor and Rose arrive thinking they are in New York about five years later.  What they discover is that people are scretly being removed from their homes.  When they investigate they are met with resistance from the people and the police but, when Rose shows up with no face, the Doctor get angry.  He discovers that the televisions are being used to drain psychic energy from people to feed the Wire and he must stop it before it hits every household in the UK.
