Walsh is found dead and this does not help the already suspicious Riley with his and Buffy's relationship.  Riley's health is slowly deteriorating and Buffy goes to the Initiative to investigate.  She finds out that the soldiers have been getting drugs in their meals and some are going through withdrawals after missing some doses.  While there Buffy meets Adam, a part human, part demon, part machine creature that Professor Walsh was working on in Project 314.  Adam kills a doctor and some soldiers and wounds Riley.  Buffy finds that she has little ability to stop this creature and he escapes the installation.
