There is already a lot of Doctor Who fiction on the market, and we want readers to feel that they are really getting their money's worth from the Novellas!
One of the reasons for using the novella format is to try and explore more the Doctor Who mythos. To push back boundaries and expectations. With the Novellas we are not committed to following established continuity, we don't have an ongoing series of adventures (as with the Eighth Doctor novels or the Big Finish audio's) and so can afford to experiment. The novella form also allows for things which cannot be sustained within a novel. We might, for example, tell a story from the Doctor's point of view, or present something which is another author's view of what Doctor Who is, could, should or might be.
